Dr. Ji's core research program is aimed at understanding the relationship between culture and reasoning (broadly defined). Culture shapes the way people reason, and the way people think about the world reinforces and sustains culture. Dr. Ji has investigated cultural differences between European North Americans and East Asians in perception, memory, categorization, prediction, and judgment and decision making. In addition to documenting cultural differences, Dr. Ji is also interested in examining the origins and mechanisms of these differences.
